seasonal coffee & all that….

From beginning of November till January of every year, i am  most excited about drinking my Lattes at my local  Coffee shop. Since i drive about 45km just for the sensation touching my taste buds, this Christmas Blend brings happiness from Latin American coffees to me, which makes me want this sweet cup full of delight.
I would truly say, Yes i am a bit awkward and i’m very happy about that.. Thank you.

Opening that glass door with my sleeves covering my hands refusing to touch the doorknob thinking about how many people have touched it before me, i directly walk into this huge line of people waiting to be served. Anxiously standing there studying the Menu over and over again to take my mind off of the fact that i am also not your typical social buddy that loves a massive amount of people standing or sitting so close to me.
I wait impatiently feeling the this gut flash soaring up cold sweat on my forehead with me thinking, You have made it this far, you are NOT leaving now.
Finally reaching the counter i splat the words One tall Gingerbread Latte….. knowing i will be sitting down, i was not happy with the thought of drinking out of a mug which isn’t mine, and abruptly added  …to go please!

Eagerly waiting to hear my name being called out from the pretty young lady quickly preparing it for me, Whipped cream? she asks… i nodded and though to myself, well of course i do, what is the best Latte without the cherry on top…. i’d even take the whole bottle.
In case you find my way of writing a bit strange, yes i am a sarcastic person and i love to tease and joke around… probably trying to hide my inner fear or at least trying to deflect my inner panic of socializing.

Grabbing my hot drink, i insert the green straw and feel great that i had the courage to manage this step of crawling out of my comfort zone and defeating this presentiment, which is so normal to others…..


The recipe for a Gingerbread Latte is simple.

Espresso with steamed milk with gingerbread-flavored syrup and spices. It is then topped with whipped cream and nutmeg.

1/3 cup water
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 cup hot espresso
1 cup hot milk
Whipped cream (optional)
In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer slowly for 15 to 20 minutes.
Combine the espresso in a mug and add 1/4 cup of the gingerbread syrup. Top off with the heated milk. If you desire, garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of grated nutmeg. Enjoy! ♡
